Ipswich Half Marathon 2016

Posted 26 Sep 2016

On Sunday 18th September one of the Foundation’s supporters, Mick Scanlon, ran the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon and raised some funds for the Foundation in the process. The annual event attracts over 1,000 runners each year, from clubs across the region as well as amateurs running for fun or personal achievement. This year the event was also pleased to have two-time GB Olympian Dominic King taking part.

The fundraising effort was just one of many that have taken place this year; a group of parents, coaches and trustees recently cycled 100 miles around Suffolk raising thousands of pounds in the process and our incredible parents are coming up with ideas for raffles, cake sales and sponsored events all year round.

All these fundraising efforts have one goal, to ensure the Foundation, and the Academy which it supports, can continue to give children from all backgrounds the opportunity to access tennis coaching and facilities. When Elena set up EBAT (Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis), this was her vision and her dream.

We have some great plans for future fundraising initiatives this year and beyond. There are already plans for a Foundation team to take part in next year’s Ipswich Half Marathon and with Christmas not too far away you can be sure we’ll be involved in festive fundraising events very soon.

If you have an idea on how you could help the Foundation or you’d like to find out more about the events we have planned then contact us or if you’d like to donate visit our Just Giving page.
