100 mile CYCLE RIDE around Suffolk on Saturday 13th August 2016
On Saturday 13th August two teams from The Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis will be cycling 100 miles in the Crafted Classique, part of the Ipswich Cycling Weekend. Both teams will be made up of a mix of EBAT parents and staff as well as Elena Baltacha Foundation trustees.
The teams are aiming to raise money for the Elena Baltacha Foundation in order to help bring to fruition Bally’s vision of getting more children playing tennis.
EBAT Coach Jamie Friend will be on board for this year’s event and summed up why he’s taking part, “Elena was the most selfless person I have met. She would do anything for anyone, and always had a smile on her face. Hopefully now it’s our opportunity to give something back.”
Each Team will be captained by an Elena Baltacha Foundation trustee; Steve Harding will captain #TeamSteve and Ben Haining will captain #TeamBen. Last year both Steve and Ben took part in a three day cycling event named ‘Ride For A Roof’, which raised an amazing £15k for the Foundation. They cycled over 300 miles in three days and finished at The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the home of The Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
The EBAT teams will start and finish their 100 mile cycle ride from the Cult Café on the Ipswich Waterfront with scheduled stops in Orford, Yoxford and Wickham Market.
For more information on the ride visit the Ipswich Cycling Weekend website and if you’d like to support the teams visit the Just Giving page, make a donation and leave a message of support. I know they’ll appreciate it and all money raised is going to a great and ambitious cause.
