Elena Baltacha Foundation extending its reach

Posted 15 Oct 2015

The Elena Baltacha Foundation was established soon after Elena lost her brave battle to liver cancer in May 2014. After an impressive career as a tennis professional where Bally, as she was fondly known, broke into the world’s top 50, began to give back to the sport to which she dedicated her life and established the Elena Baltacha Academy of Tennis in her home town of Ipswich.
In her retirement from tennis, Bally planned to enable more children from all backgrounds to play tennis and now Bally’s ethos, work ethic, commitment and dedication will be channeled through the delivery of her Foundation to continue her great work and to provide a life long legacy in her honour.
In order to drive this vision forward and maximise the impact of the Foundation, the charity has appointed a Commercial and Operations Director to capitalise on the great work that has already been achieved and to build on the legacy. Paul Regan has more than 20 years experience of working within the tennis industry, including multiple roles within the tennis charity sector including pivotal positions within the Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation and the Tennis Foundation, the charitable arm of the LTA.
Paul began his work with the Foundation in September and said; “I am delighted to join the EBF and look forward to working with the trustees to develop a far reaching strategy to grow the game in Bally’s legacy. I am excited about building the foundation and raising its profile through wider networks and campaigns to help grow the sport and to continue the great work that Bally started”

Nino Severino, Bally’s husband and long term coach commented: “We are delighted to welcome Paul to the team. Paul knew Bally and has the experience, knowledge and energy to take the Foundation to the next level. Paul shares the philosophy, ethos, work ethic and dedication that Bally brought to everything she did and I know that he will instill these values through the great work we will deliver in honour of Bally”
