During her years on the WTA Tour, Marion Bartoli formed a deep friendship with fellow player Elena Baltacha. Today, she keeps Elena’s memory alive by supporting the Elena Baltacha Foundation, including attending a special event in London. Reflecting on their bond, Nino Severino, Chairman of the foundation, said: “It’s truly special that Marion and I have maintained this close relationship, working side by side to carry forward Elena’s charitable vision and ensure the continued success of her foundation’s objectives.”

Marion Bartoli is a former French professional tennis player best known for her unique playing style, resilience, and remarkable achievements on the international tennis stage. Born on October 2, 1984, in Le Puy-en-Velay, France, she developed a distinctive two-handed technique on both forehand and backhand, which set her apart from her peers. Marion rose through the ranks with determination and flair.

Her greatest career achievement came in 2013 when she won the Wimbledon Championships, one of the most prestigious titles in tennis. In that final, she defeated Sabine Lisicki in straight sets, becoming only the second Frenchwoman in the Open Era, after Amélie Mauresmo, to lift the Wimbledon trophy. Throughout her career, Bartoli captured eight WTA singles titles and reached a career-high world ranking of No. 7.

Beyond tennis, Bartoli has made significant contributions through charitable endeavours. Passionate about giving back, she has supported organisations focused on children’s health and well-being, often using her platform to raise awareness and funds. She has been particularly involved in initiatives promoting sports as a means of empowerment for youth, encouraging children to pursue their dreams with the same persistence that defined her career.

Since retiring, Bartoli has also worked as a tennis commentator and mentor, continuing to inspire the next generation both on and off the court. Her legacy is not only defined by her Wimbledon triumph but also by her resilience, individuality, and commitment to charitable causes that extend her impact far beyond tennis. Marion actively champions women’s health through her charitable work, supporting initiatives that raise awareness of critical issues and promote well-being. She partners with organisations such as the WTA, dedicated to empowering women, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and ensuring access to care, using her platform to inspire positive change beyond the tennis court.
