News and Stories by Nino Severino

The SS4B (Sport Skills 4 Business) personal development programme for young Athlete Students is building powerful momentum.

We have launched our SS4B platform which has become the core of the programme, providing exceptional resources for the young SS4B Athlete Student to study and develop from.

We are now moving into a very exciting phase of SS4B, with the team heavily focused on delivering workplace opportunities for the students. Mezzle is playing a significant role in this strategy, offering exceptional opportunities across their national office network. We have now built an exciting portfolio of businesses that are willing to offer exceptional workplace experience to our SS4B Athlete Students.

These experiences are incredibly valuable, as they offer the opportunity for the students to be part of a wide range of working cultures and environments and provide them with the opportunity to meet professionals across a broad range of departments, some of whom are at the top of their field.

Meeting workplace professionals and engaging in conversation gives the students a connection with the real-life workplace and an understanding of how professionals think, act and react to different scenarios that can be experienced while delivering a job role.

Being part of the workplace experience opportunities will add to all the support that the schools are providing to the students and deliver a different facet. They will in many of the instances offer a perspective that would be very difficult to access. This access will support the aspirations of the students, providing workplace optics that can ignite a career decision pathway that may affect the future of the students and the direction they may take.

Our focus is to ensure that the students meet as many workplace professionals as possible, from as many departments as possible:

Administrative

HR

Purchasing

I.T.

Operations/Delivery

Product/Service Development

Sales

Marketing

Accounting

Finance

Research and Development

Legal Department

Customer Service Department

Meeting the professionals at C-Suite level within our portfolio offers an incredible opportunity for the student. Whenever we organise a workplace experience, we always aim to arrange meetings with the senior leaders of any business involved in our SS4B programme.

It’s important for students to meet these individuals as they are widely seen as the upper echelons of a corporation. C-suite gets its name from the titles of top senior executives which tend to start with the letter C, for “chief.” Whenever possible we will organise meets with:

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Chief compliance officer (CCO)

Chief financial officer (CFO)

Chief human resources manager (CHRM)

Chief security officer (CSO)

Chief analytics officer (CAO)

Chief marketing officer (CMO)

Chief data officer (CDO)

We want to ensure that the combination of the SS4B programme experience for every student is a powerful one, including the areas below:

A journey that will affect the way they see their personal development.

Linking their sporting virtues to career pathways, and how this can affect their workplace recruitment opportunities.

Benefiting from our onsite school presentations.

Dynamic visits to our school network from senior professionals.

Accessing high quality resource in the SS4B Athlete Student Member Area of our resource platform.

Valuable workplace experiences.

The aim of the Elena Baltacha Foundation is to create opportunities for young pupils and students, whether this is through our tennis programme and experiences, or through our SS4B programme.

We know that life experiences make you who you are, we are committed to continually offer these opportunities and affect whenever possible the life path of as many pupils and students as possible.

We want our programmes to continue to produce the wonderful stories that our tennis players have delivered over the years. Through SS4B, we now want to connect sport and business and see exciting stories emerging through this area of our programme and support offering.
